This bronze raven brooch is based on historical examples from Sweden and is suited for the Vendel and Viking period. The raven was oftentimes used as a reference to the God Odin, and is an often recurring theme in Viking-age motifs.
Decorative brooches like these were historically used to close the necklines of garments or fasten cloaks. Nevertheless these brooches can also be used for purely decorative purposes, since they are so intricately detailed. The needle at the back makes it very easy to attach the brooch to fabric.
The Viking raven brooch measures 5.5 x 2 cm and is available in bronze, as well as a silver plated variant.
