This peacock-shaped brooch closely replicates archaeological finds from the 11th century CE in Denmark and Norway. It is perfectly suited for late Viking age costumes.
Decorative brooches like these were historically used to close the necklines of garments or fasten cloaks. Nevertheless these brooches can also be used for purely decorative purposes, since they are so intricately detailed. The needle at the back makes it very easy to attach the brooch to fabric.
