This trefoil brooch is manufactured after archaeological finds from Smolensk, Russia during the Viking period. The brooch has characteristics of the so-called Borre-style. Trefoil brooches were traditionally worn in the middle of women’s dresses, often in combination with two oval tortoise brooches, but they were also used to close cloaks.
The trefoil brooch measures 4.5 x 4.5 cm. It is available in bronze, as well as a silver-plated version.
