This bronze trefoil brooch is a reproduction of a 9th century CE archaeological find from Rød, Norway. The brooch has characteristics of both the Rygge- and the Borre-style. Trefoil brooches were traditionally worn in the middle of women’s dresses, often in combination with two oval tortoise brooches, but they were also used to close cloaks.
The Trefoil brooch from Rød measures 5.5 x 5.5 cm. It is available in bronze, as well as a silver-plated version.
