This bronze Roman brooch is based on archaeological finds from 2nd century CE Southern England. Brooches like this one are also called ‘triquetra brooches’, they gained popularity through the rest of the Roman Empire after legionnaires from Britain dispersed to other regions. These kind of brooches were mostly used to fasten Roman clothing or cloaks.
The Roman triskel trumpet fibula measures 6 x 6 cm and is available in bronze, as well as a silver-plated variant.
