Medieval brooch Pelican – bronze

The bronze medieval brooch Pelican is based on historical examples from the 15th century. It has a pin on the back to attach it to garments. 

Religious and profane were very popular in the late middle ages. Among other things, they were sold at places of pilgrimage and contemporary tourist hotspots. For example, a lot of archaeological finds of obscene brooches have been found at cities that were associated with a big prostitution sector, like Bruges.
