This Germanic bone comb is based on archaeological finds from modern day eastern Germany. Combs like these date back to the Roman Imperial period in the 2nd century CE.
Combs have been in use since the Classical Era by Celts, Romans, and later by in the Viking civilization and the Middle Ages. Commonly used materials for combs are bone and horn, but there are also archaeological examples of wooden and metal combs.
The Bone comb with soft leather casing is 6 x 3 cm and has a leather cord of approximately 1 meter.
