This small sized brooch is based on Viking era examples. The small size makes it perfect for fastening leg and arm wraps.
This is a ‘penannular’ – ‘pen’ for the pin, ‘annular’ simply means ring-shaped – style brooch, also called fibula, with curled ends. These brooches were used widely between the eight and eleventh century but were already in use during the Roman period. Their main use is to close or fasten garments, like cloaks.
The Forged fibula – mini has a diameter of 2.5 cm and the length of the needle is 3.5 cm.
